Kingsteignton is in south Devon, just north of Newton Abbot. It is at the top of the Teign Estuary. The River Teign rises on Dartmoor and meets the English Channel at Teignmouth.
The area was prosperous in the medieval times following the importance of the area in the Saxon hundred of Teignton. The church, St Michaels, has an 85 foot high tower which was built in 1480.
