John's Ramble ref: 6702
John's Ramble are a small, perfectly formed folk/ceilidh duo. They bring traditional and contemporary tunes from the British Isles and beyond, played on two fiddles or fiddle and guitar, together with songs old and new.
John's Ramble perform for concerts and ceilidhs/barn dances, and offer themed events as well as well as a general repertoire. For ceilidhs, the two fiddles provide a very different (and traditional) sound, compared with more typical barn dance bands. They will provide a caller for ceilidh dancing.
The duo have provided an evening of 18th-century tunes (Mr Wedgwood’s Musick) as incidental music for an evening with Josiah Wedgwood; a similar for an evening with Philip Astley (of circus fame); and tunes from the English Civil War. They can also provide music for Playford balls, 18th-century balls, traditional Victorian harvest dances, and others by request.
