Ceilidh / Barn Dance Bands Performance & Setup Times

PERFORMANCE TIME

The time given on our quotation includes the break, so if it says something like:

The time given is divided into 2 sets of music & dance and a break of 30 mins.

Up to: 3 hours, costs = £xyz." ,

this means 1hr 15mins of Ceilidh or Barn Dance, 30 min break, (normally for a buffet or similar, so people can re-stoke their energy), 1hr 15mins more of Ceilidh. Sometimes the break extends to 45 minutes if it is clear that people are still eating, but not longer, as the momentum generated in the first half of the Ceilidh would be lost.

In our experience, 3 hours is the right length of time and that is why we normally quote this. Shorter, and people still want more, longer and people get over tired and it spoils the Ceilidh. Some bands will do a longer Ceilidh if asked, some won't. Some bands charge more for a longer time, some don't. The quotation we emailed you shows the maximum length of ceilidh that the band will do under normal circumstances.

If you want a shorter Ceilidh, then we either reduce the length or break, or even eliminate it entirely.

SET UP TIME

Set up is immediately before the start of the performance, and is typically 45 mins. to 1 hour. If you do want them to be on site and set up earlier than their playing time, or if there are site access restrictions which extend their time on site (as with show grounds) then the extra time on site is usually charged extra. You must state such requirements on the booking form.
