The MR Ceilidh / Barn Dance Band

This band can perform as an all Scottish Ceilidh, Irish Ceili, English Barn Dance or a mixture of all. The MR Ceilidh/barn dance band is a lively band of three experienced musicians and a dance caller. They play and sing music and songs from the English, Scottish and Irish traditions for dancing and listening to, at wedding receptions, birthday parties and corporate events. Line up consists of melodeon and fiddle, guitar and flute, and flute and whistle. They work with experienced dance callers, who will get your guests dancing, mingling, laughing and enjoying themselves however little their prior knowledge of ceilidh dancing, and whatever their age. The band's aim is to make sure you and your guests have an enjoyable and memorable evening, tailored to your particular wishes and requirements.

The band usually play a mixture of English, Scottish, American and Irish music, but could provide a whole evening in any one of these if required. They usually play instrumental interludes, but some songs can be included on request.

Testimonials

Annual dinner"I am writing to thank you very much for the providing such exceptional entertainment at our Annual Dinner on Friday 28th January 2011. We were highly impressed with the music and everyone really enjoyed the dances, as reflected in the excellent feedback we have received from our staff. Please extend our thanks to the rest of the band. We would happily recommend the Band to colleagues and business associates alike."
Birthday"Thanks to you guys for the great evening at Ilam. Lots of compliments especially for the gentle caller."
Wedding Anniversary"Our 50th wedding celebration went extremely well on 16th October certainly in a substantial part in the evening to the Ceilidh Band from West Yorkshire. The band leader popped his head into the Hall early on to check it was the right place and they all arrived separately and well on time. They were friendly and although they had not been doing much together during the previous 12 months they played well together and everyone appreciated the caller, Sue who led us very well. We had some initial discussion with them about where to set up in the hall and they eventually agreed to our suggestion due to the location of fire exits in the hall. One extra thing to mention was that as our guests were not in the first flush of youth their movement in one particular dance was slower than the band were probably used to but the caller pointed out afterwards that the band had slowed their playing to be in time with the dancing. I think not many bands would be sensitive enough to do that!"
Wedding Anniversary"Please pass on our grateful thanks to your fellow musicians. We had a wonderful party and it was so lovely to watch the young and older guests dance together and laugh when mistakes were made. You made a great atmosphere and everyone enjoyed the evening."
Community event"Thanks so much for playing and calling at our community ceilidh. It was lovely to have a local band for our church ceilidh. Guests commented on how great it was to have a "proper ceilidh" and the dances were well suited to even the littliest of dancers. We have had many great comments back. Lots of people seemed to really enjoy the evening. Will be in touch for the next one!"
Birthday"May I just say a massive thank you to the band for making my birthday so very special and superbly enjoyable. All my friends loved the music and the dancing which obviously ensued and I will be asking you to play for me again next year at our wedding anniversary party. Thank you again and good luck with your future venues and bookings."
