Procedure & Limitations in using your Credit Card to pay for Midsummer Music services

Note, the following is based on the situation as we have interpreted it from PayPal's website and support personnel on 28/11/05. Please use this as a guide only, as we can not accept responsibility for changes made by PayPal or our misinterpretations.

  1. If you have never used PayPal before, go to step 1, below.

  2. If you have used PayPal before but never registered, go to step 2, below.

  3. If you have registered with PayPal, go to step 2, below.

  4. If you have been Validated by PayPal, go to step 3, below.

Step 1

If you have never used PayPal with your Credit Card, you can use the shopping cart to pay for up to £250.00. If you wish to pay more than £250.00, Step 2 applies.

Step 2

If you have either never used PayPal, or have used PayPal with your Account but never Registered, then:

  1.  If the value of the payment to Midsummer Music + the value of any previous transactions ever made through PayPal will add up to more than £250.00, PayPal will ask you to Register. [see how to register]

  2. If the value of any previous transactions ever made through PayPal will add up to more than £500.00, PayPal will ask you to Verify [see how to Verify].

Step 3

If your PayPal Account has been Verified, you should be able to make any required Credit Card transactions to us, or should be able to transfer funds from your PayPal account.

How to Register

When making a payment, if PayPal ask you to register, then this is an easy 5 minute process. If you have already made purchases through PayPal, here is a copy of an email sent to me by PayPal explaining the process:

When unregistered customers send their payment through PayPal for their eBay purchase, they received an email receipt. If they have access to that email receipt, they can sign up for a PayPal account by clicking the "Sign Up Now" link in the email. Once registered, their previous transactions will be available in your History.

If you no longer have your email, please contact us by following the steps below and we will resend the email receipt.

1. Visit PayPal at https://www.paypal.com/

2. Click the "Help" link in the top right corner.

3. Click the "Contact Us" link located under the "Categories" section.

4. Click the "Service Centre" link under the "Help by Phone" section.

Please note:

Opening an account using the link in the "You Have Completed Your Transaction!" email will allow you to view the transaction in your History Log · Previous transactions will not be available if you open your account by clicking the "Sign Up" link from the PayPal website.

How to Verify

Verification takes several days. You are asked by PayPal to give details of your bank account. PayPal then pay two small amounts of money into your account. 5 working days later, you have to check your account [either over the internet, or if you don't have access, via an ATM], so that you can confirm to PayPal the exact amounts they transferred into your account. This proves [Verifies] you are who you say you are. Here is a an extract from PayPal's User Agreement [see www.paypal.com/uk/ rel:"nofollow" ]

4.1 Sending Payments.

In order to send a total of more than £500.00 GBP through our Service we require you to provide us with additional identification or complete your membership enrolment as described below. We require this information to authenticate your identity and to determine how much you may transact with your account.
