the huge domed interior of the pump room has amazing acoustics for a string quartet. It does pose some challenges for a ceilidh or barn dance with amplification because the resonance, but with careful setting up of the PA equipment and clear enunciation by the caller, it is an amazing venue with plenty of room to tackle any dance. Being adjacent to Pittville Park, it's easy to move out onto the terrace and steps, when is always ample shade for the string quartet.

this absolutely enormous tithe barn has room to set up any size of ceilidh barn dance or jazz band, normally at the end with the three tall windows below the tall sloping and beamed barn roof. Made of Cotswold stone, this grade 2 listed building conceit up to 200 people in a formal concert setting, and for weddings, birthdays and anniversaries control up guests and dance band, leave plenty of room to dance without having to move to many tables.

this is a very small and delightful church dating from 1160. It has an intimacy that had something very special for wedding ceremony. There is room for a string quartet to play towards the rear of the church, though they have to be careful about the setup so as not to block the aisle. The grounds are beautiful trees and flowers in spring. One time when I was playing there with my string quartet, it just been visited by Prince Charles who had left an inscription in the guestbook.

a large Cotswold stone hotel of great character, evidently in 50 acres of grounds, though the media grounds are quite intimate and ideal for playing outdoors for a wedding ceremony. I remember once playing with my string quartet when I had to stop as we were drowned out by the red arrows doing a fly past with smoke. The groom was in the air force and some mates phase and arrange them to do a slight detour to appear at the wedding. It's a pity we had been playing there with our ceilidh band, we might have given the red arrows I run for their money regarding sound levels (I've never had a PA system much over halfway, but it would have been interesting to turned up full volume).

we've played many National trust properties throughout the UK with various of our music groups, but this one is quite unusual in that it is the 17th century grandstand, from where the rich and influential once watched horseracing.

this is the village hall, not the famous Chedworth Roman Villa, but I'm sure that the Romans would have loved to have been at the ceilidh. Did the Romans have ceilidhs and barn dances in their day?
