The FG Ceilidh / Barn Dance Band

Great Tunes! Great Dances! 4 musicians with a huge wealth of experience who’ve played in all sorts of musical outfits from bluegrass, Irish trad, indie rock, country, even melodic metal! Between them they’ve played hundreds of gigs including weddings, party events, fundraisers, village fetes, mini festivals.
Dances are carefully selected to suit any audience - absolutely no experience necessary. Everything from a rip-roaring Strip the Willow to something more gentle & elegant like St Bernard’s Waltz. The band have also developed a repertoire of especially family friendly dances which children and adults can do together. The line up is caller/guitar/mandolin, bass guitar, fiddle, drums/vocals all which helps create a full sound; playing some of the best tunes from English, Irish, Scottish, American, European traditions; carefully arranged and great for listening too. When you’re getting your breath back they can entertain you with songs from their superb singer. The band also offer smaller line-ups. (Please note that the band are currently playing as a 4 piece including caller band, we are waiting for up to date photos).

The band can work closely with you for a successful night – eg first dance at a wedding, and welcome special request for music and dances - in the past they’ve incorporated Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter tunes for clients (given enough notice). Themed Dances: the band can tailor the flavour of the evening to fit in with your English, Irish, Scottish or American Hoedown theme. The FG Ceilidh Band have high quality sound equipment, Public Liability Insurance from the Musicians Union and all equipment is portable appliance tested (PAT)

Testimonials

21st BirthdayWe just wanted to say a huge Thank You for being a large part of my daughter’s 21st birthday celebrations. We all had such a fantastic time. As planned it brought all the different ages and groups of people together to have a whale of a time. Everyone, including the young people, many who had never experienced a ceilidh, were very impressed and said they would love to do it again. On a more personal note, thank you for being so patient with us all and generally a lovely bunch of guys.
Wedding Anniversary" Chris and the band played at our 10th Wedding Anniversary, a great night was had by all. As we had 20 kids under 6 it was a really great that we started with a few dances which the children could really get into. They even put some of the adults to shame at the later more complex arrangements"
Fundraiser“A great evening was had dancing to the brilliant music and calling of the Band at Holt Community Centre last night raising £200 for the East Anglian Air Ambulance. Everybody who came had a fun evening and burnt off quite a lot of calories not only with the dancing but laughing too!”
Party“We all had a fab time (even with the complicated dance!).  Thanks for fitting in and playing in rather small garden space and keeping the dances going.  Lots of fun was had by all and the music was lovely.”
Club eventIt was a very successful night for our club, everyone enjoyed themselves. I have received loads of positive feedback about the whole evening.  Please pass on my thanks to your whole band.
70th Birthday PartySarah and I want to express our appreciation for the really excellent evening last Saturday. We thoroughly enjoyed the music and thought you had selected an excellent variety of dances. The caller did very clear explanations of the various steps and dances. It is clear from our friends' responses and their faces while dancing that they also thoroughly enjoyed it and appreciated the gentle nudging by the lady in green when we were in muddles.
