The SW Ceilidh/ Barn Dance Band

The SW Band, a creative and energetic ceilidh band, was set up in 2007. The band combines the dynamic fiddlework of Alice with stunning Celtic harp by Steph, driving guitar from Clara and funky bodhran from Barry, all well-established musicians within their own right.

The band plays a blend of traditional and contemporary tunes from the British Isles and especially England, twisting the traditional into innovative and invigorating arrangements.

All four are regulars at the notorious Half Moon session, and have performed at a range of festivals including St Alban's Fringe, Towersey Village Festival and the Oxford Folk Festival. Most of all they enjoy playing for dancing, whether for novices or experts, bringing a fun and lively atmosphere to any dance floor with music that gets everyone moving!

Whilst their music combines traditional and contemporary tunes from across the British Isles, the SW Band works with both English and Scottish callers to provide clear instructions to dancers, whether novices or experts. All our callers are engaging and experienced, ensuring the dancers have a great time.

A smaller , 3 piece +caller , band, is also available as is a larger, 5 piece + caller band.

Testimonials

WeddingDave and I just wanted to thank you for the wonderful ceilidh that you put together for our wedding. We loved the more acoustic style of music (even our guests who are normally not keen on ceilidhs or even amplified music stayed and danced because it sounded so lovely), your calling was perfect for ceilidh veterans and newcomers alike.
BirthdayI just wanted to say thanks very much to you and the band for the fantastic music on 24th - we had an amazing time dancing to the ceilidh and I know our guests did too. I just wish my feet hadn't hurt so much otherwise I would've been dancing more!
PartyThanks again, I am getting loads of very positive messages back from our guests about how much they enjoyed the dancing. And thank you for being so patient with us when we were so hopeless!
