Tavistock is a market town in rural Devon. It has the Dartmoor National Park to the east and the Tamar Valley AONB to the south. It sits on the River Tavy, which is a tributary of the Tamar.
Tavistock Abbey, now ruined, is a Benedictine Abbey which dates to the late 10th Century. It was destroyed in 997 then rebuilt, with further work being done in the 13th and 15th centuries.
