The MP Jazz Band ref: 6524
The MP Jazz quartet play music influenced by jazz played in 1950s California, mixed with latin and calypso beats to create a fresh acoustic sound that is bright, breezy and melodic. If you’re an avid jazz fan you’ll recognise names such as Stan Getz, Chet Baker, Art Pepper and Lee Konitz. If you’re not, you’ll be pleased to hear that their music is bright, breezy and melodic, without the honk and squeak of some hardcore jazz. It’s a cool sophisticated music that appeals to a younger audience than traditional dixieland jazz. the band's repertoire will appeal not only to jazz aficionados but also those new to jazz.
Another characteristic of the band is that they have no drummer. In addition to keeping their prices down it means we can squeeze into the smallest of corners. It also keeps the volume down, meaning they don’t need much amplification and can create an intimate acoustic atmosphere where needed.
The members of the band are all highly experienced jazz musicians, having played in such prestigious clubs as Ronnie Scott’s, the Vortex and other venues across London, the UK and Europe. However, the proof is in the listening.
