Hear & See More... | The EL Jazz Band ref:3009.1 |

| The Band play jazz inspired by the music of the "classic" interwar years, with a creative energy that has become its hallmark. The band's skill, originality and phenomenal swing have excited audiences in clubs, theatres, dance halls and festivals throughout Europe, including those at the Edinburgh International Jazz Festival.
The musicians are all well known, experienced and highly respected members of their profession. Most of them are also associated with their acclaimed 1920/30s style big band , formed in 1980.
This is a jazz band that can respond quickly to the needs of the moment. Whatever the occasion, the emphasis is on entertainment: the band's good humoured, professional approach to performance has ensured a "user-friendly" reputation. |
| The music comprises an imaginative repertoire of material, ranging from "hot" up-tempo numbers to haunting ballads and blues; from established classics to less familiar but equally engaging gems: and from New Orleans/Chicago (Armstrong, Oliver, Morton etc.) to Harlem (James P Johnson, Waller, "red" Allen etc.) and beyond - with some surprises and some originals.
The band is proud to have accompanied many distinguished guests, including instrumentalists Digby Fairweather, Marty Grosz and Duncan Swift, and singers Marilyn Middleton Pollock, Juanita Brooks and Maxine Daniels. |
| Newbury Showground | The band were very professional, played exactly to schedule, and provided some lively background music for our stand. They drew quite a bit of interest from the crowds. | | A wedding at Penrhos Court | The band were excellent & there have been many comments on how good they were... ( in fact, people were enjoying themselves so much that there was a small amount of “bribing” of taxi drivers outside to wait another half hour!!!) | | Fund raising event | Just wanted to say what a fantastic night we all had last night, and the band contributed so much to a brilliant atmosphere and all round amazing event. Please pass on our appreciation to the Jazz band we will definitely recommend them to our eventy type friends...we have things like this all the time, so definitely know where to come and look when we need some great entertainment. |
