Composers and string quartets

Many composers have written music specifically for the String Quartet. Some only wrote for the quartet once they had become experienced, considering the string quartet to the be the perfect musical ensemble. Other musical works have been transcribed for he quartet, including orchestral, vocal and even pop and jazz pieces.
