About  Watford   

Early on, Henry I granted locals the privilege of being able to hold weekly markets – and by the 14th century some villagers were well off through trade in wool and leather. From the late Middle Ages Watford was an agricultural market town and contained a number of tanners, millers, bakers, brewers and butchers.
