About  Warrington   

William le Boteler, the fifth lord, at the beginning of the thirteenth century seems to have established a borough in Warrington. The earliest market charter was obtained from Edward I while Sir William, the seventh lord, was with him at Rhuddlan. On the edge of the town a friary was built close to a busy thoroughfare so that the friars could go out and preach and collect alms.
