About Trafford
TRAFFORD itself derives its name from Sir Cecil Trafford, who bought Wickleswick Hall and estate in the mid-17th century. The estate became known as Trafford Park Estate, and the family lived there until 1896 when Sir Humphry de Trafford sold the estate to Trafford Park Estates Limited after the building of the Manchester Ship Canal.
