Towns, cities and regions, such as The Rhondda have an influence on the style of music, whether it is the 'English Countryside' feel of Vaughan Williams, the strength of Elgar's Victorian Malvern, or the skirl of Northumbrian Pipe tune.
About The Rhondda
The Rhondda Valley is a former coal-mining valley in south Wales. The valley is made up of two valleys, the larger Rhondda Fawr valley and the smaller Rhondda Fach valley. Despite there being two separate Rhondda valleys, both the terms 'Rhondda Valleys' and 'Rhondda Valley' are commonly used to when referring to the valley and both are deemed correct. The confluence of the Rhondda Fawr River and Rhondda Fach River is at Porth. Porth is know as the gateway to the Rhondda Valleys because it is at Porth that the valley splits into the two separate Rhondda valleys.
