Towns, cities and regions, such as   Merseyside  have an influence on the style of music, whether it is the 'English Countryside' feel of Vaughan Williams, the strength of Elgar's Victorian Malvern, or the skirl of Northumbrian Pipe tune.

About  Merseyside   

By 1915 Merseyside had an electrified suburban network that was only bettered, in terms of mileage, by London. The Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway had electrified their busy commuter routes that ran into Liverpool Exchange station from Southport, Crossens and Ormskirk.

Music for everyone in Merseyside. From small venues hosting, folk, ceilidh and barn dance and jazz, such as the Carling Academy, Quote "formerly the Lomax site this 19th century warehouse building at 11-13 Hotham Street is steeped in musical history" offering facilities for live function bands.

To major classical music organisations,  such the Liverpool Philharmonic, who write that they are "one of the UK’s most forward-looking music organisations. As well as the world class Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, our programme of classical music activity includes the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Choir, the Rodewald Concert Series of chamber music and our contemporary group Ensemble"
