About  Macclesfield   

Macclesfield has a long history and has been a Charter Town since about 1261. One of the main industries for the last few hundred years has been the weaving of Silk. Hence the nickname 'Silk Town'. There are many old mills around the town although sadly they are no longer engaged in the Silk industry
