Towns, cities and regions, such as Hertfordshire have an influence on the style of music, whether it is the 'English Countryside' feel of Vaughan Williams, the strength of Elgar's Victorian Malvern, or the skirl of Northumbrian Pipe tune.
About Hertfordshire
For many people Hertfordshire is just a place on the way to or from somewhere else. Ever since the Romans built Ermine Street this has been the case, with over enthusiastic modern road builders following the trend. But creating fast passage through the county has left many quiet backwaters where attractive villages and a charming rural landscape have survived. The village of Westmill is perhaps the best example of this rural English idyll, but there are many others that can be included in enjoyable walks including Essendon, Braughing, Much Hadham and Therfield.
There are a large number of venues in Hertfordshire to choose from. We have compiled a list of wedding venues where our musicians would enhance the day. These venues would also be suitable for corporate events or parties. For the evening one of our party bands or covers bands would be a popular choice. Another option would be a jazz band or ceilidh band, and for the afternoon, perhaps string quartet: Hertfordshire has a particularly good music service, which in the 60-90s produced many excellent classical musicians, some of whom play in the string quartets who perform in the county today: string quartets in hertfordshire Some of the classical musicians broadened out into jazz players: jazz bands in hertfordshire Perhaps fewer moved into folk (though Derek did, when he joined a ceilidh band while at Reading University). Many folk player enter music via a non classical training. ceilidh bands in hertfordshire Barn dances are the same as Ceilidhs but with more of an English or American feel to them: barn dance bands in hertfordshire Function bands are always popular, and being within range of London based bands, there are many to choose from: function bands in hertfordshire For an intimate jazz experience, you could consider a jazz duo or jazz trio. Some also use recorded backing or synthesizers to sound more like a larger band: jazz duos in hertfordshire
