About Harlow
Harlow as we know it today, is one of several English towns constructed in the post-war period. Built to orbit London, the New Towns were seen primarily as a way of relieving the capital of excess population, yet also constituted an important opportunity for planners to provide high standards of living in a modern environment. The master plan for Harlow itself was drawn up in 1947 by Sir Frederick Gibberd.
