About Greater Manchester where our live musicians perform
String Quartets, Ceilidh and Barn Dance Bands, Jazz Bands, Party Bands and more…
Towns, cities and regions, such as Greater Manchester have an influence on the style of music, whether it is the 'English Countryside' feel of Vaughan Williams, the strength of Elgar's Victorian Malvern, or the skirl of Northumbrian Pipe tune.
About Greater Manchester
Very little is known about Manchester during the Middle Ages, and it was by no means an important town as it had been during Roman times. Few Englishmen would have even heard of the place, though Salford would have been well known as would Wigan, Preston and Lancaster.
Home of the Hallé Orchestra, Britain's longest-established permanent professional symphony orchestra, founded in Manchester by Sir Charles Hallé in 1858. The Hallé has been performing classical music in Manchester, around Britain and abroad for more than 150 years. But Manchester boasts Manchester Pop & Rock Music Clubs like the Apollo Theatre & Band on the Wall, who also cater for jazz, and of course there are a plethora of folk clubs.
