Towns, cities and regions, such as   Central London  have an influence on the style of music, whether it is the 'English Countryside' feel of Vaughan Williams, the strength of Elgar's Victorian Malvern, or the skirl of Northumbrian Pipe tune.

About  Central London

Trafalgar is the centre of visitors’ London (tube Charrng Cross.), where many great rallies and marches take placc. the new year is ushered in by tens of thousands of revellers and where Londoners congregate to celebrate anything from a football victory over Germany to the ousting of the Tories. It was once famous for having flocks of pigeons that would dive-bomb anyone with a morsel of food on their person, but their numbers have dwindled considerably since mayor Ken Livingstone banned feeding the pesky blighters. The square was designed by John Nash in the early 19th century on the site of the King’s Mews, and is flanked by the National Gallery, the National Portrait Gallery and the eye-catching church of St Martin-in-the-Fields. The 43.5m-high Nelson’s Column (upon which the admiral surveys his fleet of ships to the southwest) was completed in 1843 and commemorates Admiral Nelson’s victory over Napoleon off Cape Trafalgar in Spain in 1805. Three of the squares four plinths are occupied but one, which was originally intended for a statue of William IV, remained SaCafll mr moTe than 150 years — in recent years it has been used to showcase temporary exhibitions of contemporary art. Heavy traffic has traditionally made it difficult to appreciate Tratalgar Square as a public space. However, under a splendid new scheme pushed through by the mayor, the northern flank of the square — in front of the National Gallery — has been blocked off to traffic, and a new pede.strianised plaza will be in place some time in 2003.
